regulating various acts of SGB? That is a wide open statement. The GB of the school RUN THE SCHOOL....and are a law unto themselves. The Principal of course works very closely with the chair of the GB. I was staff rep for two out of a three year option and resigned into the second year. It is ALL A FARCE....small minds playing small games. Criminalising non attendance and regulating home schooling becomes a nightmare....and OF COURSE CORPORAL PUNISHMENT CONTINUES....particularly in all boy schools. Corporal punishment creates disciplinary PHOBIA/trauma and is counter productive....and if ANYONE cannot understand that, they have no right to be in education for starters. I taught at a gov. school in the closing years of my career and was 'unfairly dismissed' after being victimised daily. It ended up RUINING what was left of my teaching career, there WAS caning in the school but no one would be found 'noticing'. This was all back then just the TIP OF THE ICEBERG. HAD the Gov. taken heed of my concerns a lot of what is happening now could have been directed positively towards change....may they all RIP.
